Exotic Birds Mod

Egg

Each bird has its own egg that it will regularly lay eggs in the world. Eggs spawn with a successful hatching rate of 30%, although this can be improved in two ways:

1) Combining eggs with fire powder will increase the spawn rate by 15% (10% in 1.14+).

2) Incubators can be used to increase the success rate by 5% (10% in 1.14+) for multiple eggs at once.

Nest

• Nests are interactive blocks that can be used to hold eggs and eggshells. They can be right-clicked to open the inventory. They spawn naturally around the world and are commonly found on treetops. The nests created may contain bird eggs and may sometimes contain unidentified eggs.
• Nests can also be handcrafted and if birds are nearby, they will accumulate eggs very slowly.
• Note: The nest is not intended for incubating eggs – an incubator is required for that task instead.

Encyclopedia of birds

The mod includes a detailed encyclopedia of birds that will provide information about the birds in the mod. You can search for a bird using the search bar or by finding its entry in the list. Each entry will display a model of the bird and its data, such as its favorite food, habitat and sex. Various items it will also list and be used to tempt, breed, and tame them (if possible). Craft by surrounding a book with feathers!

Bird cage

Bird cages are new in version 1.12.2 and when you transport birds over long distances, you need to use them. Can be used to enhance the beauty of your world with 8 different types of cages crafted. These blocks can be put down and used to keep your bird safe!

To use the birdcage:

• 1) Right click on a bird to catch it in the cage.
• 2) Birds can be released from the cage by placing and breaking the cage.
• 3) Bend over and break the cage to keep the bird in the cage.

Egg identification

Egg identifiers are used to analyze unidentified eggs found in the nest. Place unknown eggs in the top left box and redstone dust in the box below. The eggs will gradually be identified and can turn into ANY bird’s egg – even a mystical phoenix egg!

Note:

There is always the possibility of a failed egg analysis. If this happens, it may just produce eggshells – or sometimes nothing at all!

Hatcher

Incubators are used to increase the chances of hatching bird eggs. Place any bird eggs on top of the incubator and power the machine with fire powder. Increases each egg’s spawn chance by 100% since the Machine will gently warm your eggs.

Bird

Different types of birds will be found around the world once the mod is installed. Each bird also has multiple species, bringing the total number of bird species to over 100!

• Info: A small bird found in rivers and beaches. It made the ‘quack’ famous. The ducklings are yellow so you don’t know if it’s a duck or a duck until it’s grown up.

• Info: A rather large pink bird. Can be found where there is water. They will stand on one leg to maintain body heat.

Gouldian Finch:

• Replicable: Yes.
• Info: These colorful little birds are found in the jungle. They make gentle chirping sounds and prefer to leave on their own in the wild.

• Info: These are very small, colorful birds that make a lot of noise. They fly around and flap their wings very quickly. They can be attracted by holding the line.

• Info: These are small, quiet birds that live around water. Sometimes they swoop in, catch a fish and fly around with it in their mouths.

Kiwi:

• Habitat: Jungle, Forest
• Tempted by: Wheat grain.
• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Info: A very small bird. It lays the largest egg for the body size of any bird.

Kookaburra

Lyrebird:

• Habitat: ?

• Breed: 2
• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Information: Very intelligent birds have the ability to imitate animals. During the day they will copy the sounds of sheep/cow/pigs and at night they will start copying the sounds of zombies/skeletons/vines. Males have orange tail feathers, while females do not.

Magpie:

• Habitat: Forest, Birch Forest, Covered Forest, Taiga
• Tempted by: Wheat grain.
• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Info: These are medium-sized walking birds. Occasionally they will ‘loose’ and put something in their mouth. You can get this item by hitting them, but it will take a while for them to pick it up again, or be kinder and ‘swap’ the item with wheat. You can hear them through the conversation they create.

Ostrich:

• Habitat: Desert
• Tempted by: Apples.
• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Info: These are giant birds that can be found in arid biomes. Their eggs are the largest of any other bird.

Owl:

• Habitat: Forest, Swamp
• Tempted by: Rotten Meat.
• Breed: 3
• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Info: Owls are medium-sized birds that will breed in the woods. They will usually only appear as individuals. They will fly away if attacked. Their eyes glow in the dark.

Parrot:

• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Info: These colorful birds can be found in the jungle. They can be tamed with a grain of wheat and will follow you like wolves. They can sit, walk or fly by right clicking on them.

Peafowl:

• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Info: These birds are the first birds added to the mod. They roam the world and are found everywhere. Peaco*cks can be distinguished from peaco*cks by their colorful plumage. Right clicking on a peaco*ck changes whether its ship (tail feathers) is open or closed. You can also mate two peaco*cks with a grain of wheat! There is also an elusive albino peaco*ck. It is said that it lays golden eggs.

Pelican:

• Information: Pelicans are fairly large birds that live near bodies of water.

Penguin:

• Tempted by: Fish.
• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Info: Penguins are medium-sized birds that live in cold biomes. They move quite slowly, known as waddling.

Phoenix:

• Heart: x 100
• Habitat: Does not lay eggs.
• Can be reproduced? ARE NOT.
• Info: Phoenixes are massive mythical creatures created from fire. They can only hatch from Phoenix eggs with a mild level of 10/9/11. An adult phoenix can saddle and fly. To fly up, look up. To fly down, look down. When they die, they drop a phoenix egg, so you’ll be able to regenerate your phoenix.

Pigeon:

• Habitat: Forest, Plains
• Tempted by: Wheat grain.
• Breed: 2
• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Information: Pigeons tend to be considered pests in certain areas of the world. In this mod there are two variations, wood pigeon and stone pigeon.
• They make a cooing sound so they should be pretty easy to find!

Roadrunner:

• Habitat: Desert, Mesa, Savannah

• Info: A very very fast desert bird. It doesn’t make much noise, but you won’t be able to miss it! To get close, you need to hold the grain of wheat.

• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Info: These birds can be found in any biome by water. Since this is their natural habitat, you will often see them swimming in rivers. You can hear them by the loud whistle they make.

Toucan:

• Can be reproduced? Correct.
• Info: These birds can be found in tropical biomes. They have large colorful beaks and emit a distinctive call.

• Info: A very large bird that can be found in the desert. They will fly into the sky and circle while searching for their prey.

• Info: You can find these birds high up in the trees happily pecking holes. They’ll make a sound when they do, meaning you’ll know when they’re nearby. When disturbed, they will fly away to find other plants.
