The information was shared in an Instagram Reelposted this week by user Dannah Eve, who goes by The Street Smart Blonde online and has a degree in both criminology and psychology.
She often makes videos sharing the best safety tips and advice, with a focus on helping women and kids stay safe.
In her latest clip, she warned viewers that they should never accept anything edible from their rideshare drivers - as it can be extremely dangerous - even if it appears to be sealed.
'Do not accept anything from your Uber, Lyft, or rideshare driver,' Dannah began in the now-viral video.
'No water, no mints, no snacks, nothing,' she continued. 'And, yes, not even if it's sealed and looks like it's never been open.'
The safety expert explained that while '99.999 percent' of drivers are just trying to be nice and do so to have a good rating, there are still 'horror stories' that can come out of these seemingly innocent situations.
'In today's world, it's not worth the risk,' Dannah warned.

But what should you do if the driver offers you a Poland Spring water bottle?
'Politely decline, and never ingest anything,' she urged viewers.
'There are unfortunately very bad people out there, and remember, your safety comes before anybody else's feelings.'
In addition, the content creator advised people to stay aware of their surroundings and keep an eye out on the route your driver takes you.
'Stay off your phone, head up, and be aware of what's going on, be aware of the direction you're heading in,' she said.
'Remember, I always say, a distracted person is an easy target, don't be one,' she concluded.
In the comments section, many users praised Dannah for her important tips, and even shared some of their own.
'I always have my GPS going in a rideshare to make sure we're going to the destination too,' one person wrote.

Another shared, 'Also, be careful using their iPhone chargers. Mine gave me a weird pop up and then I was terrified he downloaded my whole phone.'
'Also, you van add a rating and/or tip after you get inside your destination,' someone else typed.
'That's what I do. Thank you for your relevant safety tips.'
A user seconded, 'This is a great tip! Thank you so much!'
