In this classic Walt Disney animation based on Rudyard Kipling's book, Mowgli, an abandoned child raised by wolves, has his peaceful existence threatened by the return of the man-eating tiger Shere Khan (George Sanders). Facing certain death, Mowgli must overcome his reluctance to leave his wolf family and return to the "man village." But he is not alone on his quest: Aided by Bagheera the panther, and later by the carefree bear Balloo (Phil Harris), he braves the jungle's many perils.

The Jungle Book | Rotten Tomatoes (1) TIME Magazine The result is thoroughly delightful. The reasons for its success lie in Disney's own unfettered animal spirits, his ability to be childlike without being childish. Noe G The jungle book 1967 is amazing Disney animated movie and my rating is a 10/10 Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/29/24 Full Review Nick S the plot is slow and then quickly concludes, just like how all the movies were in this era. Not a huge fan of that but it is what it is. Bare necessities is an amazing song! Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Jace E Great characters, great songs and a fairly straight-forward plot. It's probably the first Disney film to have a truly memorable hit song, in my mind, with The Bare Necessities. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/17/24 Full Review Faiz D A childhood favorite. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/29/24 Full Review Dale R The story of the Jungle Book is simple, a boy takes a walk in the jungle and happens upon different animals with differing opinions on his well being. However, what really pushes this movie above the rest is the music! Once again the Sherman Brothers knocked it out of the park with a little help from Terry Gilkyson who composed “The Bare Necessities”. All the songs in this film are favorites of mine! The cast hits it as well: Phil Harris is amazing as Baloo, Louis Prima was ingeniously cast as King Louis and George Sanders plays a menacing Shere Khan. I love the scene with Khan and Kaa having a conversation about Mowgli. Which leads me to why I can’t give this film five stars. Beside the simple plot, Bruce Reitherman, who plays Mowgli, can not sing to save his life. Again I think that “the kid has to be cute” won over “the kid should contribute to the music” idea. Since the music is really all this movie had going for it, the fact the lead isn’t musical is a big issue for me. Still highly recommended though! Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Rami A Not great, but very good and fun. Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/12/24 Full Review Read all reviews
